TIME WELL SPENT

We believe that time at Candle Light Cove should be time well spent. Led by CLC's Activities Coordinator, Tred Avon activities are based on an assessment of residents' past interests, current abilities and the mix of individual personalities in the program.

"Life skills" (such as setting the table, folding laundry and gardening) capitalize on purposeful tasks learned over a lifetime and foster a sense of independence and accomplishment. Other activities - watching a classic movie, walking in the garden, singing, story-telling, playing ball or checkers -- can help maintain physical fitness, stimulate pleasant reminiscences and encourage social interaction. Some Tred Avon residents also participate in activities and excursions offered to Peach Blossom residents.

One-to-one activities can help to distract, redirect or refocus a resident experiencing negative emotions and associated difficult behaviors. We welcome family involvement in our activities program.
